Part-Time Attendant
Downtown Transfer Center of Blue Water Area Transit
The Part-Time Attendant at the Downtown Transfer Center will work about 25 hours per week, including full-day shifts every Saturday and provide additional coverage during the week for staff vacations Downtown as well as in the Dispatch Center at Blue Water Area Transit’s main office at 2021 Lapeer. The Attendant will interact with the general public, selling bus passes and providing information on bus service, as well as dispatching and providing support for drivers and cleaning staff. This position reports directly to Operations and the Lead Dispatcher. Starting wage for this hourly position is $20.72/hour. Upon completion of training, the wage will be $25.72/hour. Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to respond to driver or operations needs in a timely manner
- Ability to stand, walk, or remain on‑site for extended periods
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions
- Basic problem‑solving skills and ability to follow established procedures
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in transit, transportation, dispatch, or customer‑service roles
- Knowledge of basic safety procedures in a transit or public‑facing environment
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Experience working in fast‑paced service settings
- Familiarity with two‑way radios or communication equipment
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to de‑escalate situations when needed with communication with the lead dispatcher
- Basic computer or mobile‑device skills for reporting or communication
